ASMSI Foundation Day Activities - Games for the Children

For the past 4 years, the ASMSI Foundation Day Celebration involves facilitating games for the incumbent students in our beloved Alma Mater - Sisters of Mary Schools. And I believe that it will continue this year.

Every batch will be assigned students [on a per year level or per sister-in-charge basis] to organize games for these children. The same way when games were organized for us while we were inside SOM.

As for the prizes to be given away, all graduates are encouraged to bring packs of candies/chocolates and even school supplies. These maybe surrendered at the gate where the alumni officers will distribute it so that all batches will have prizes to give away.

In relation to having a uniform for this event, would it be more convenient if we wear sports shirts and not a polo shirt? Well, that's just me ( Rex "doms" Domino ). Hehehe! Anyway, I can bring an extra shirt naman.

There are also suggestions in our batch thread in the asmsi website, about other color than green.

Well, all I can say is relay this info (batch polo shirt) to as many batchmates as possible. Say your comments and suggestions here or in the asmsi website/batch 1995 thread or forever hold your peace!

Hehehe!!!

Lastly, let me share with you some of my thoughts after the August 2008 Foundation day here.

Batch 1995 Shirt for August - Design by Rene Lebico

These designs are courtesy of Mr. Rene Lebico. He is actually not one of our batchmates but belongs to Batch 1997. I believe he joined us in our mini celebration at Leo's bar last March 15, 2009.

Batch 1995 Shirt for August - Design by Zeny Villapando

Batchmates, Ms. Zeny Villapando has started the ball rolling for our batch shirt this August with her simple design suggestion. It is actually done in MS Word. This is the best I could do to share it with you. Hehehe!!!

ASMSI Website: Membership Activation

The Alumni of the Sisters of Mary Schools Inc. (ASMSI) have been reaching out to all alumni across the country through its own website at www.asmsi.org.ph for the past five years or so. The website has been instrumental for the organization's growth and continuous existence.

As Batch 1995 graduates, we are therefore encouraged to use the website to know more of the organization, its activities and programs and reconnect with fellow batchmates or other alumni.

To activate your membership account now, go to the website. Look for the member's area on the upper right hand corner and activate your membership.

You will then see a registration form where you would need to fill in your Last name, First name, Middle Initial, Birthday, Gender, Batch and Branch. These infos are needed to verify if the person seeking membership activation is really a graduate of the Sisters of Mary School.

If you are able to activate your account, check the website regularly for important announcements and try to interact with fellow batchmates and alumni.

Unfortunately, there are some glitches that you might encounter. If you see a NO RECORDS FOUND message, do not fret. The database of graduates has errors.

First, try to use January 0, 1900 as your birthday. If you have the yearbook, fill in your name as listed in the yearbook. If both of these fail, click the Contact us link.

The website administrators will try to accommodate your request as soon as it is possible. Remember that the website is maintained by volunteers without any form of compensation. Let us wait for their response patiently.

March 15, 2009 Alumni Homecoming

The Alumni Homecoming for 2009 was held on 15th of March 2009. And as always, Batch 1995 was there at the sprawling Sisters of Mary School Girlstown Complex at Bo. Biga, Silang, Cavite.

What happened in the Alumni Homecoming?

Right after the mass, nagkita na kami ni dormate Edwin Ballaran at Joseph Canaya ( Batch 95 - Cebu ).

Nadagdagan pa kami nina Philip Jalea, Rex Medalla, Erwin Bartolome, Janke Ante, Osias Espelita (with GF Marites) at Marlon Quilit.

Kudos kay President Al and to his batchmates. And suwerte, sa room 401 ng Sullivan Building(my first building sa SOM Silang) naassign ang ating batch.

Unfortunately, I was only able to introduced Mines and Nancy to my fellow gents batchmates.

Rex (Medalla) lost his meal stub.

Syempre, kulitan at kwentuhan to the max agad.

After nun, picture taking sa corridor with the students. Konti pa lang dito promise. Punta kami 7th floor at first time ko napuntahan ang water tanks.

Picture taking ulet kahit di namin masyadong feel. Then sa bronze bust ni Fr. Al in between Doty and Ray Grace Building.

Nagpipicturan sila sa lugar na gusto kong tawaging "the woods" or in tagalog "kakahuyan".

Watch out for further announcements.

Leo (pronounced as lee-yow) is a Batch 95 - Cebu branch graduate and co-owns "El Manda" along Boni Avenue in Mandaluyong City.

But before that, we all decided to go to Adlas dahil ulet sa di-matanggihang request ni chairman Almario. hahaha!!!

Parang 3 group convoy kami paputang Adlas. Dumagdag pa sina Greg Hagos at Max Gacelis.

For some influential reasons, Nancy and Mines were able to get bread from the Bakery. Kaya ang panghihinayang nami nang di makita si Sr. Nory ay naconsole ng kaunti ng paghati-hatian namin ang cinnamon bread fresh from the boystown bakery.

After that medyo naiinip na sina Leo Verdz and chairman almario dahil alak singko pasado na.Off we go to the Manila via SLEX.

12 kaming batch 1995 gents inside Ronald's van: Ronald Cucio, Arieste with GF, chairman Remoel, Greg Hagos, Rex Medalla, Gary Palma, Leo Verdz, Osias with GF, Angelo Arroyo, Max Gacelis, Rex Domino at Edwin Ballaran.

Mines, Nancy and Zeny were waiting for us at Leo's bar together with Sage(7th batch) and Sam (12th batch).

After a short introduction, Angelo Arroyo started the mic rolling with Hard to Believe. Well, its really not that hard to believe that our batchmates know how to sing.

From Angelo to Leo Verdz rockin the house, to Gary Palma, Rex Medalla's ballads, Even Ronald, Arieste, Osias, Doms(that's me!) and chairman Remoel can carry a tune. Arguably, the best performance of the night was chairman Remoel's "Humanap ka ng Panget". Hindi din naman papahuli sina Mines at Nancy who brought feminine flavor with their songs. Even Zeny sang.

Then the dance songs triggered the dance moves. Hope Leo Verdz and Gary Palma could teach us some steps or two. O kailangan ba namin uminom ng Tongkat Ali ( tama ba spelling?) Up, up, up... down, down down!!!

When the one-for-the-road bucket of beer came, Zigfrey Camua, joined us. He is the batch representative of the gents and lives some five minutes away from the bar.

After the chip-in for the bill, we came out with 450 pesos in excess. The money were added to our batch fund.

Soon, and sadly at that, it was parting time once more for each one of us. If we could just be this enjoyable for one fun homecoming night, then the alumni homecoming is more worth going to each year.

Unang dagdag, ( courtesy of Gilbert "sage" Evangelista, 7th batch):
Astig daw ang batch natin kasi after mag-inum, may ending prayer pa daw.
